Danny Washbrook felt that the defeat to Hull KR was ‘one that got away’ given the Wildcats’ territorial dominance.

Danny Washbrook believes the Wildcats should have had more from their performance against Hull KR.

On a frustrating afternoon for the Wakefield players, they saw attack after attack repelled by an an excellent defensive effort from the Robins as they earned a hard fought 22-10 success.

Washbrook told Wildcats TV that he and the rest of the players were disappointed they didn’t take the points they felt they deserved.

“We gifted them possession too many times and that’s the story of the day really,” said Washbrook.

“They came up with some last ditch tackles and we came up with some bad options.  It was one of those days really and probably one that got away.

“There’s positives to take from the game but we’re all disappointed in the changing rooms because we know that it’s probably one that we messed up.

“We’ve got two weeks to improve what didn’t go right today and hopefully that will see us right for the Bradford game.

“If it was up to the boys we’d probably play again tomorrow but we’re going to have to spend that time working on what didn’t go right today.”
