Kyle Wood believes the Wildcats head to the KC Stadium confident after ‘a kick up the backside’ from Head Coach Richard Agar this week.
Both Agar and Wood admitted in this week’s pre-match press interviews that the squad let themselves down in the second half against Bradford Bulls as the Wildcats went down 36-18 to their West Yorkshire neighbours.
Now Trinity travel to Humberside to face a Hull FC side who also have just one win in their opening three games after suffering a narrow reverse to Salford City Reds last weekend.
Despite the poor second half showing last time out, Wood is confident the Wildcats will travel to the KC Stadium confident of getting a result.
“Richard has been hard on us this week and he has told a few people what we did wrong, but we needed that,” admitted Wood.
“We needed a bit of a kick up the backside and I think we’ll play a lot better this week.
“We’ve had a good week’s training and we’ve worked on a couple of areas that let us down against Bradford.
“We let ourselves down against Bradford. There’s a couple of areas where we need to improve.
“I think if we do that we can be a good team and we can be up there winning games.
“We’re not doing major things wrong, it’s just little things that we need to rectify.
“Once we get them sorted, we get our ruck a bit stronger and we are winning those tackles, I think we’ll do well.”
