MEDIA WATCH: WILKES RULED OUT FOR 6-8 WEEKS

Wildcats prop Oliver Wilkes has been ruled out for up to eight weeks after snapping ligaments in his thumb in the win over Salford City Reds.

Wilkes picked up the injury in the first half against Salford City Reds.

Wilkes suffered the injury in the first half against the Reds but still went on to give arguably his best performance of the season so far, with Richard Agar admitting to the Wakefield Express that it is a blow to lose the prop.

“Oli required immediate attention on snapped ligaments and will be out for six to eight weeks,” commented Agar.

“It is really disappointing because his hard work was paying off and he was excellent against Salford.”

The Wildcats are expecting to be boosted in the pack by the return of skipper Steve Southern for the game against St. Helens in a week’s time, with Agar also confirming at a recent press conference that he expects Ali Lauitiiti to return for the next home clash on May 20th against Warrington Wolves.
