The Wildcats under 20′s saw off the challenge of Hull KR on Saturday afternoon thanks to a brace of tries for Paul Johnson.

Paul Johnson scored a brace of tries for the under 20's against Hull KR.

The prop scored twice in the second half to clinch a victory that was in the balance for long periods against a well drilled Hull KR side.

Johnson’s brace was mirrored by centre Josh Hardcastle who went over twice in the first half, as did Andy Tate, whose single try left the Wildcats trailing by two points at the interval after Rovers scores for Louis Sheriff, Dave Scott and Nick Johnson.

Ryan Wright got the Wildcats noses in front after the interval when he went over from close range but some slack tackling allowed Aaron Ollett to reestablish the visitors lead.

Hull KR’s left hand side defence were too concerned with trying to throw their weight around off the ball to allow Johnson to drive at a gaping hole to score and his second try of the game earned a battling 32-24 win for the Wildcats.

Wildcats: Liam Kay, Sam Parking, Danny Cowling, Josh Hardcastle, Sam Fletcher, Danny Ansell, Matty Wildie (c), Tom Lillycrop, Andy Ellis, Paul Johnson, Frankie Mariano, Kyle Trout, Adam Slater. Replacements: Ryan Wright, Joe Clowes, Adam Gledhill, Andy Tate.
