Wakefield Wildcats winger Peter Fox has paid tribute to head coach Richard Agar after the remarkable 32-30 victory over Hull FC.

Peter Fox crossed for a try late in the first half.

Trinity were 30-10 down midway through the second half before a change in momentum saw a comeback of epic proportions.

Fox was one of six try scorers for the home side to help them on their way to four wins out of five games and the former Hull KR man was full of praise for the Wildcats head coach.

“I think the comeback was due to us sticking to our systems and sticking to our structures that Richard has been coaching into us and that paid off,” Fox told Wildcats TV.

“I think when teams go away from them that’s when you get into trouble but we stuck to our game plan well today.

“In the second half it wasn’t looking good but to come back like that was fantastic and I take my hat off to all the lads.

“It is a real good achievement to win three games of Super League in a row and credit has to go to Rich Agar and I know he has been getting a little bit of stick but that’s been unfair. Every time we go into the changing rooms he is always positive and that is a real good trait to have as a coach.”

The Airlie Birds sit joint fourth in the table after the defeat which shows how dangerous Peter Gentle’s team can be and the England international was keen to stress just how big of an achievement it was to topple yesterday’s visitors.

“Hull have been going really well this year and are well inside the top eight so we knew it was going to be difficult.

We have worked really hard all season and normally we have put our heads down but yesterday we found an extra spark of energy and belief to push us on to victory.

“My try before half time was important and it showed some of my hard work has paid off in terms of working on my fitness and I take my hat off to Benny Cockayne and Tim Smith who helped create it for me.

“In terms of the play-offs then anything is do-able but we have a brand new team and yesterday was a big learning curve because we haven’t done anything like that all season. To be behind for so much of the game and to come back and win was a great learning experience for the whole squad and we have certainly taken a lot out of the game.”
