All votes have been counted up and the Wildcats can reveal Paul Sykes try against Leeds Rhinos has won the July Kitchens by Design Try of the Month for his score in the 38-18 victory over the World Champions as the nominations for August have been announced.

Paul Sykes won the Kitchens by Design Try of the Month vote for July.

Competition was fierce for the month of July with a number of high quality tries being scored in the victories over Huddersfield and Leeds but Sykes has won the award for finishing off some exciting play. The Wildcats kept the ball alive throughout the set before the half-back powered his way through Rhinos captain Kevin Sinfield and three other defenders to extend an early lead.

Simon Sweeney is the winner after voting for the Sykes try and he has won two tickets for Sunday’s game against Widnes, 6:45pm kick off. Simon successfully voted through our Facebook page and the club are asking him to contact us on 01924 211611 to collect his tickets.

Meanwhile, August has been a month where Richard Agar’s men have a 100% record after beating Castleford, Trinity continued the momentum by dramatic one point wins over St Helens and Hull KR.

In those three victories there were some fantastic scores and the nominations for the August Kitchen by Design Try of the Month are as follows, with you able to watch the nominees HERE:

A. Lee Smith Vs St Helens

The centre scored a crucial try in the victory at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium and it was certainly one to savour for the Wildcats faithful. Ben Cockayne picked the ball up in his own in goal before bursting clear, only to be tackled just short of half way. Then an Ali Lauitiiti charge made good ground before offloading to Smith who produced a mesmerising curved run to finish in the far corner.

B. Tim Smith Vs Castleford Tigers

Tim Smith helped Trinity off to a superb start at the Probiz Coliseum and he grabbed a try of his own after Kyle Wood passed to the Australian, he dummied and barged his way over two Castleford defenders, including full-back Richard Owen to extend the lead.

C. Lee Smith Vs Castleford Tigers

With the score at 28-0, the Wildcats had no intention of letting up and Wood once again found Tim Smith as the half-back kicked through on the 20 metre line and the ball bounced up for his namesake Lee Smith to collect and dive over the try line in front of the travelling supporters.

D. Peter Fox Vs Hull KR

The winger scored a crucial try on the half time hooter at MS3 Craven Park to help change the momentum in East Hull. A penalty was taken quickly by Cockayne and with seconds left on the clock the ball found Tim Smith who kicked precisely to Peter Fox who finished in the corner.

E. Kyle Wood Vs St Helens

When Kyle Wood stepped into dummy half 12 metres out with the score tied at 26-26 there looked little danger for the Saints defence. But a sublime step off his left foot bamboozled Mike Rush’s men with the young hooker sliding over next to the uprights.
