ACADEMY SET FOR SATURDAY DERBY PLAY-OFF

posted on 5 September 2012

Saturday is a huge day for Wakefield Wildcats as not only the first team travel to Leigh to face Salford in the biggest game in their recent history but the Rapid Solicitors Stadium hosts Trinity’s Under 20’s play-off encounter with Castleford Tigers.

The Wildcats under 20's are in play-off action this Saturday against Castleford.

The club are inviting the Wildcats faithful down to watch Glenn Morrison’s Under 20’s take on their fierce rivals at 12:30pm before travelling over to Lancashire to support the first team.

The Tigers finished in eighth position in the Valvoline Cup and were beaten twice by Trinity in league after suffering a 44-16 defeat at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium in April before losing at home 34-28 with Lucas Walshaw grabbing a hat-trick at the Probiz Coliseum.

Academy products Tom Lillycrop and Ryan Wright will be hoping to impress once more after being awarded with their player of the year awards at half time in the first team victory over Widnes last Sunday. Prop Lillycrop beat off competition to win the Players’ Player of the Year and Man of Steel while hooker Wright won the Coaches Player of the Year for his consistent performances in the Under 20’s.

In the under 18′s Academy Ben Shulver was named Coaches Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year, with prop James Healy scooping the Man of Steel title.

These fixtures will give supporters a fantastic opportunity to see where money is going from Club 1873 as all money raised through the clubs lottery goes towards improving the clubs youth development programme. Players such as Danny Cowling, Kyle Trout and Lucas Walshaw have impressed during the 2012 season, featuring in Richard Agar’s first team plans through impressing in the Under 20’s.

For just £2 a week you will be entered into daily draws to win vouchers such as a meal for two at Kashmiri Aroma, Wildcats retail vouchers, Angelic Holistic and Beauty Therapy, £25 voucher at Frankie and Benny’s and more. Every Sunday there are cash prizes are won with a guaranteed jackpot of £250 going to one loyal supporter if they successfully match all four numbers. If members of Club 1873 match three numbers then you will be rewarded with £20.

It costs just £3 for adults to come to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium and watch an academy game and £1 concessions with Gold Members receiving access free of charge.
