Following the funeral of former Wakefield forward Malcolm Sampson last week, the Sampson family gone on record to thank the people of the city.
A message from the family read:
The family of Malcolm Sampson would like to thank Wakefield Trinity Wildcats club and fans for their great turn out at Malcolm’s funeral, and the donations made to the Motor Neurone Disease charity (MND Association).
Malcolm’s wife, Avis, and children, Lee and Vicky, were overwhelmed by the turn out at last Wednesday’s funeral and over £1,000 was collected on the day for the MND charity. With extra donations, the present total is over £1,400.
Malcolm played for Trinity from 1959 to 1966, making 98 appearances aswell as scoring at Wembley in Trinity’s 1963 RL Challenge Cup Final victory over Wigan and sadly lost a long battle with illness recently.
This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
