The 2013 campaign came another step closer this week with the squad returning for two days of testing.

The majority of the first team squad returned for pre-season testing on Thursday and Friday.

Under the watchful eyes of Strength and Conditioner Martin Clawson and Sports Scientist Lewis Williams, the players were tested on a wide variety of aspects including body fat measurements, the bleep test, chest press and much more over the course of two days at Thornes Park, Total Fitness and the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The vast majority of the squad was back for testing including new signing Reece Lyne with the Australian-based squad members due to return next week as the countdown to the new season continues.

In Friday morning’s testing the players were put through their paces with a bleep test where Kyle Wood set the pace among the backs and Andy Raleigh was the best performing forward.

If that wasn’t enough, the players later headed to Total Fitness where the dreaded rowing machine had them gasping for air as they completed six 30 second bursts with 30 second recovery periods in between.

Raleigh was again the top forward and Vince Mellars led the way for the backs.

Wildcats TV followed the players in this morning’s testing and you can see some of what they got up to by clicking HERE.
