AGAR AMENDS SQUAD FOR BOXING DAY

posted on 24 December 2012

Wakefield Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has amended his Boxing Day squad for the trip to face Leeds Rhinos at Headingley Carnegie.

Richard Agar has made changes ahead of the Heatshot Festive Challenge.

Kyle Wood, Lee Smith and Vince Mellars drop out of the original squad with Reece Lyne promoted to start at centre inside Ben Cockayne. The three absentees mean young prop and a member of the under 19′s squad James Healy will start on the bench and is likely to make his Wildcats debut at the home of the Super League champions.

The Heatshot Festive Challenge kicks off 11.30am  on Wednesday as the Wildcats face the Super League and World champions and the team that ended Trinity’s sensational seven game winning streak in the first week of the play-offs.

It is the first chance to see how preparations for 2013 are going under Agar in his second season in charge at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium. Lyne will be joined by prop Justin Poore to debut while they could well be joined by fellow new boy Bobbie Goulding in making first appearances for the club as the half-back starts from the bench.

Fans that will be packed inside the home of the Rhinos will also witness the formidable half-back pairing of Paul Sykes and Tim Smith in their new shirt numbers of a traditional 6 & 7 combination.
