Young Wildcats centre Danny Cowling is preparing to return to the Keepmoat Stadium for the first time since winning the Championship One Grand Final while on dual-registration at Doncaster in 2012.
Cowling has been speaking to Wildcats TV ahead of Sunday’s fixture where he discusses his time in South Yorkshire, the team performance at St. Helens, how training has been affected due to the weather while his aims for 2013 were outlined.
You can see the full interview HERE while a small selection of what the former Featherstone Lions man had to say is below starting by discussing his time at Doncaster.
“Going there and winning the league and then going on to win the Grand Final with a great set of boys and it was a good year of rugby for me. It will be good to go back and play them in a Wakefield shirt and I’ll get some hammer I suppose but it’s all part of the game.
“I feel like I’ve improved from last year, obviously with the help of Doncaster with a lot of game time has helped my game. I think this year I’ll be a better player for it.
“Physicality and maturing, playing against men every week rather than teenagers in the reserves. I feel like I’ve matured physically, tackling and in every aspect of the game.”
Talking about the loss at Langtree Park last Sunday, Cowling decided to take the positives out of 80 minutes.
“There were good things in there and sometimes you need a defeat to have areas to improve on and that’s what we’ve done. We took a lot out of the game and a lot of areas that you could see vast improvement and we’ve worked on those in training.”
Tickets are available on the gate at the Keepmoat with adults will be charged £12, concessions £6, 5-16 year-olds £2 while under 5s gain access for free.
