Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has made two changes to his 19-man squad to face Catalan Dragons in Perpignan on Saturday (kick-off 5pm UK time).

Richard Agar makes two changes to his 19-man squad.

Injured captain Danny Kirmond and Vince Mellars drop out of the squad to be replaced by Matty Wildie and Kyle Trout who has featured for Doncaster in the previous two weeks.

Kirmond is likely to be out of action for up to four weeks while centre Reece Lyne also misses out through injury which gives Lee Smith another opportunity to impress.

The Wildcats travelled to France this morning and ahead of the flight, Agar says managing the travelling time is a key component to success in Perpignan.

“We talked to the guys about being a professional sportsman managing travel and down time is very much a prerequisite of the job and how you handle that time is very, very important,” admitted Agar.

“It is important not to get too far away from your routine, don’t spend too much time sleeping more than you would, don’t spend too much time eating and having time in your room.

“Having that ability to manage your time and kill time efficiently, we didn’t have that luxury last year because we went really late and we were worried about recovering from the travel time.

“This time we’re going a day early so we have got some sizeable elements that we have to manage but at the same time I also feel that you can utilise that time and I think we’re the type of group that does thrive on that sort of time together.

“We use it in a very positive way to try and do little things to pull the boys together and they really enjoy each other’s company. Training and getting out on a different field in a different country still puts a spring in your step and it’s a good trip to make where the positives far outweigh the negatives.”
