Experienced back-rower Ali Lauitiiti knows the team must put in a better showing this week following the disappointing start against Bradford on Sunday.

Ali Lauitiiti says the Wildcats must have the correct attitude against Hull KR.

A winner of five Super League Grand Finals, Lauitiiti knows what it takes to win and the Samoan international says attitude must be better going into Saturday night’s game.

He told Wildcats TV: “We’ve pinpointed what happened, it came down to attitude and that is what we’ve been talking about all week.

“Bottom line is they ran harder and tackled harder than us. They wanted it more and we weren’t prepared to work for each other, I can’t say that for everyone, but that was the overall feeling.”

Lauitiiti was in superb form last season and was rewarded for his hard work with a 12 month contract extension, which will keep him at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium until the end of the season.

The 33 year-old has played over 300 first grade matches and knows if the team defend like they did against the Bulls then they will once again be on the wrong end of scorelines but he and the squad are determined to prove the doubters wrong.

“If you turn up like that week in week out you will get 40 plus points put on you, it’s Super League and first grade football and you’ve got turn up with the right attitude and be on your game every week.

“Judging by last Sunday it wasn’t a great start, we have lots to improve on and the boys are looking forward to proving everyone wrong.”

The Wildcats have a great chance to respond this week as they take on Hull KR in their first home game of the season.

The former New Zealand Warrior is prepared for a tough encounter against a strong Rovers side and is confident the team can bounce back.

“They are a strong team with a big pack, so it’s going to be physical, we’ve just got to turn up with the right attitude and make sure that we can counter attack their threats.

“Looking back on Sunday we have heaps to improve on, the boys have responded well in training, now we just need to do it on the field.  We just need to play well as a team and show not only ourselves, but our fans and Super League too, that we’re to be recognised.”

Tickets for Saturday’s game are available priced at £20 for adults, £10 for juniors and £25 for a joint adult and junior ticket (this offer ends at 5.30pm today).
