Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has called Andy Raleigh and Vince Mellars into his squad to face Hull KR this Saturday, kick-off 5.45pm at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

Andy Raleigh is set for his 2013 bow against his former club.

Brad Singleton and Matty Wildie are the two players to miss out after the defeat away at Bradford in round one. Prop forward and 2012 Coaches Player of the Year Raleigh is set to make his season bow after recovering from damage to his rib cartilages while Mellars is in contention to feature against Rovers.

The 19-man squad also includes Tim Smith who is rated 50/50 to play on Saturday while academy graduate Chris Annakin is once again named after a promising pre-season campaign.

Agar gave injury news and his thoughts to the media at the weekly pre-match press conference:

“We haven’t picked anything up from last week,” explained the head coach.

“Andy Raleigh is back fit again and we’ll have a call on Tim Smith on our last field session, he’s probably rated 50/50 at this stage. He’s back running and doing some twisting and turning but we want to make sure he’s 100%, he’s making good progress.

“We’ve got some players fit and available and we’ve had a good look at the video so we’re still tossing that (team selection) up as we speak at the moment. We’re having a look and there are one or two guys edging forward and a couple of young guys that have played and trained quite aggressively throughout the offseason.

“We are not putting excuses out there for them but one or two of them were light on pre-season. It might be that we have to keep working that little bit harder and get some of these boys a little more practice in doing that.

“We’ll decide this weekend whether some of these guys get put on notice and get another shot or whether we decide to make any changes. Andy Raleigh is back fit and he’ll certainly come back into the team, that’s rubber stamped.”
