Wildcats head coach Richard Agar has named an exciting mixture of youth and experience in his 19-man squad to face Hemel Stags on Saturday in the Tetley’s Challenge Cup, kick-off: 6pm.

Australian star Justin Poore will return as captain against Hemel.

Prop forward Justin Poore will return and captain the side while three players are expected to debut in the fourth round clash at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

New signing Jon Molloy goes straight into the squad to face the Championship One side while academy products Ben Shulver and Daniel Maskill will feature.

Stand-off Paul Sykes misses out through a head injury suffered in the defeat to Warrington but is expected to return against Widnes.

The squad includes eight players that have featured in the Wildcats youth set-up at some stage in their career in a youthful squad and Agar is excited with the team he will field on Saturday.

“We are going to play two players out of our under 19s,” admitted the head coach.

“Ben Shulver will play first grade this week and he’s been training alongside us for four or five weeks. Dan Maskill will play off the bench as well who is Colin’s son.

“I was really impressed with what he’s done and with Paul Sykes’ injury we were looking for another pivot so Paul’s injury has provided another opportunity for another young kid.

“I think we’ll have three debutants this week if all goes to plan for the rest of the week. We have got one or two tiny question marks over a couple of players that we expect to turn out but at this moment we are not quite sure.

“We feel we are in a position where we can rotate a little bit and give some blokes who have undoubtedly earned a rest over the last month.

“(Justin) Poorey will play after missing last week and we feel in Andy Raleigh and Kyle Amor we want to keep them playing. We feel match fitness is very important for those two guys it will give an opportunity for Frankie Mariano and Kyle Trout in the back-row and Jon Molloy will make his debut after signing for us this week.”
