The Wildcats put in a solid display to see off a very game Featherstone Rovers in a 28-20 victory at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.

The under 19's claimed a victory over Featherstone Rovers.

The game started with a flurry of quick tries as the hosts took the lead on three minutes as a quick offload from Josh Murphy put James Healy through to make it 6-0.

The visitors hit back quickly as an excellent kick from Chad Moss was picked up by Jordan Myers to make it six points apiece.

Wakefield retook the lead quickly however, as a well worked move finished off by Corbyn Kilday gave the Wildcats the advantage.

Featherstone in return would respond quickly as Jake Perkins would play in Joe Turton but the Wildcats would have the final say in the first half as Jack Walton ran on to a brilliant kick from Josh Murphy, to score and make it 16-10 at the break.

Wakefield turned up the pace at the start of the second half as the hosts scored in their first play of the half as Mat Cook and Brandon Conway combined to put the latter through to go over.

This was followed by what was easily the best try of the game, as Tom Johnstone intercepted a pass and proceeded to run over half the length of the field to score under the posts and see the score go to 28-10 to the Wildcats after a Josh Kittrick conversion.

The visitors did muster two unanswered tries in the closing stages of the game through Liam Dodman.

Dodman went over twice in the space of five minutes with two finishes that were very similar to each other to see the score finish 28-20 to Wakefield at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
