Wildcat Chaplain Jon Robinson is preparing to take on the Leeds Half Marathon in aid of Community Trust partners Heart Research UK.

Club chaplain Jon Robinson will take on the Leeds Half Marathon for Heart Research UK tomorrow.

Jon is no stranger to pushing his body over the longer distances in aid of good causes having run eight marathons in all, his last coming last year when he visited 16 schools in Wakefield to raise money and awareness for the Community Awareness Programme, as members of the Community Trust team ran alongside him.

He has run the London marathon on four separate occasions with this his first ever half marathon having become aware of the work of Heart Research UK through his time spent at the Wildcats and recently spent a full day cleaning cars at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium to raise money.

The Wildcats in partnership with the Wakefield Community Trust are working closer than ever with Heart Research UK in 2013 with more details to be released soon, with Jon’s half-marathon run hoping to raise £2,000.

“The Trust have worked a lot with Heart Research UK over recent years and there’s more happening later in the year with ‘Sing for Your Heart’ and other activities,” said Jon.

“I wanted to do my little bit and hopefully running the half marathon can raise some money for the charity.  I’m at £700 and it would be great to get to £2,000 which I think is achievable.”

The Wakefield Community Trust picked up a Special Recognition Award from Heart Research UK in 2012 when under the guise of the Wildcats Community Trust and the two charities continue to work closely together.
