After a slow start Wakefield found their feet to see off a very game Sheffield, in 28-18 victory at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
The visitors opened the scoring as the Eagles made pressure from a penalty count as Eddie Medforth scored the first try of the game.
Sheffield continued to dominate and that domination was rewarded as Calvin Butler’s offload provided Medforth’s second try of the game to extend the Eagles lead.
This prompted Wakefield to find their feet in the game and they fought back quickly as an excellent individual effort from Corbyn Kilday put the hosts back in it.
The Wildcats then started to play some excellent stuff as Scott Lee made a great offload to put Sam Doherty through who went over to give the hosts the lead for the first time in the game.
Wakefield continued their dominance as Danny Maskill Scored an excellent try after he powered through three players in the Eagles defence and dived over to see the lead at 18-8 going into the break.
The hosts were unable to dominate the beginning of the second half as the visitors started the second half brightly and a great pass from Mick Taylor saw John Hole go over the to reduce the deficit.
The Wildcats quickly went up a gear in response and hit back immediately as Josh Kittrick and Ben Shulver combined to put Lee through to go over in very well worked try.
However, the Eagles weren’t finished there as they fought back and scored the next try through an excellent kick from Cory Arton which was well caught by Hole for his second try of the game.
The hosts would score the final try of the game however, as Wakefield rounded off an extremely entertaining second half when a quick off load from Kittrick made space for Josh Murphy to go over under the posts.
Kittrick kicked the conversion to see the score finish 28-18 to the Wildcats at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
