Stu Dickens’ men put in excellent display to see Wakefield come out 26-14 winners over the London Broncos at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium.
The Wildcats opened the scoring early on, when great offloads from Mat Cook and Curtis Macdonald put Brandon Conway through, who went over to the score in the corner.
The Bronco’s hit back quickly after a kick from Charlie Lawrence fell kindly for Harry Griffiths who ran through and offloaded to Joe Keyes who went over under the posts.
After an exciting end to end half, Wakefield would score the last try of the first 40. After a great run and pass from Josh Kitterick gave Jack Walton the space to go over and see the hosts take a 10-6 lead.
The visitors started the second half brightly and struck first as an excellent kick from Iliess Macani was taken well by Richard Harris who laid off to Saeed Saboke and he went over to put the visitors back on level terms.
The next score of the game came from a great run from Conway as he ran past two Bronco’s players and offloaded to Sam Doherty, who went over to see the Wildcats take a 16-10 lead.
The Wildcats went on to dominate the next ten minutes of play putting great pressure on London’s back line, which paid off as an off load from Cook put Macdonald through to score in the corner.
That prompted a brief fight back from the visitors which culminated in Macani going over for his first try of the game after an excellent offload from Joe Keyes.
However, the Wildcats responded quickly and scored arguably the best try of the game. A kick from Kitterick was caught exceptionally well by Conway who went over for his second try of the game.
