The Wildcats had seven representatives playing in the Championship this weekend but only one player ended up on the winning side.

Kyle Trout was on the losing side with Doncaster this weekend.

That player was Vince Mellars, who started at centre for Featherstone and scored a try in their huge 60-6 victory away to Barrow Raiders.

Elsewhere Wakefield’s official partner club Doncaster suffered a 34-10 defeat away to Keighley Cougars. Danny Cowling and Liam Kay started in the centres while Kyle Trout played loose-forward in the defeat. There was some consolation for Kay though who managed to score the first of Doncaster’s two tries after he raced down the left wing to score in the 18th minute of the game.

This result leaves Doncaster 10th in the Championship table, three points above bottom placed Barrow but still only three points off the playoff places.

It was also a bad day at the office for both Lucas Walshaw and Bobbie Goulding who played in Dewsbury’s 35-16 defeat at home to Halifax. Walshaw started at second-row for the Rams while Goulding continued in the halves as he managed to convert two of the host’s three tries.

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
