Wildcats utility man Lee Smith is set to keep his place in the centre’s for the clash with London following the convincing victory over Salford City Reds last time out.

Lee Smith looks ahead to hosting London.

The former Leeds Rhinos man has spent this season in a number of different positions but reverted back to his favoured left centre spot against Salford following the return of stand-off Paul Sykes.

After a week off because of the International Origin match, the Wildcats squad have been able to rest up and repair ahead of the crucial match with the Broncos on Sunday.

Smith believes the rest has helped the squad as they aim to mount an assault on the top eight.

“It has been good for us, the lads have been able to get away for a bit and freshen up. We have come in and had a good week’s preparation so we are just looking forward to getting out there on Sunday.

“I think we need to be beating the teams around us at this stage, especially at home, we need to make this a difficult place to come so we need to have a good go Sunday. We have a fully fit squad which is good so we can go out and put a real good performance in.”

The impressive 46-10 win at the City of Salford Stadium has given the squad some real momentum going into the last quarter of the season and the 26-year-old believes they now need to build on that success.

“We defended really well against Salford and attacked well when we got down in their half.

“We need to build on that and execute some of our plays like we did there; we enjoy our rugby here (at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium) and if we stick to our game plan I think we can cause team’s trouble.”

The Wildcats are currently two places outside the play-off places with a game in hand and Smith believes winning their home games is paramount to them making the play-offs.

“If we are going to make the top eight we really need to be winning our home games, we need to make this a tough place for other teams to come and make them know it’s going to be a tough game when they come here.”

Sunday’s game possesses a great opportunity for Richard Agar’s men to make it back-to-back wins and the centre believes implementing their game plan properly is key to victory.

“We just need to control the ball well, we need the forwards to get us on a roll and we need to execute our plays out wide well.

“It’s going to be a really tough game but we are really looking forward to it so hopefully we can get the two points.”
