Richard Agar has called on his team to be more effective with the ball in hand when they welcome Leeds Rhinos to the Rapid Solicitors Stadium tonight (kick-off: 8pm).
The two sides will meet for the second time within a week after a closely fought battle at Headingley Carnegie last Friday.
Trinity put in a solid defensive effort to leave with a narrow defeat and Agar has called for more of the same whilst being better when his side find themselves in attacking positions.
“I’ve talked about our numbers needing to be high when we play against Leeds and you’ve got to complete and compete at a good level,” said Agar.
“There were two kick plays where I felt we could have done a lot better and diffused those situations.
“Making plays against Leeds and winning battles in the air is something that’s very important. At 60% we travelled at last week with the ball, that’s probably not good enough. It’s admirable that we gave ourselves as good a chance as we did but we know we need to be a lot better in that area because we didn’t have any sustained pressure.
“The ramifications of that was we looked impatient and little bit impatient when we got into good ball, which is unlike us. We’re quite a well rehearsed team and shown to be a very good team in that aera but we weren’t last week.
“I imagine Leeds will be saying the same. I think both coaches will have been happy with the defensive efforts and not as happy with the offensive efforts. Whether that’s good defences or bad attack, or both meeting somewhere in the middle I would suggest.”
Tickets for tonight’s game will be available on the gate priced at £22 for adults and £14 juniors/concessions. Leeds Rhinos fans have been allocated the Western Terrace and, if required, the north-west corner, with Wildcats fans in all other areas.
Gold Members are advised that Bring a Friend vouchers cannot be exchanged on the day of a game.
