The Wildcats have been dealt a blow with the news that Paul Sykes will miss six weeks after fracturing his fibula.
Trinity’s stand-off left the field midway through the first half after an innocuous looking incident when making a tackle on Gareth Hock.
X-rays on Monday night confirmed worst fears that Sykes has fractured the fibula in his left leg and will be out for a lengthy spell.
It does not necessarily spend the end of the season for Sykes, who could yet return for the potentially crucial West Yorkshire derbies against Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers.
