Hooker Kyle Wood has joined Huddersfield Giants on loan for the remainder of the season ahead of starting a three-year deal at the John Smith’s Stadium from 2014.
Wood has played 42 games for the Wildcats in his second spell at the club, scoring nine tries in the process. He will join the Giants with immediate effect and spent his first days training with Paul Anderson’s men today.
The vast majority of his appearances in the red, white and blue came from the replacements bench due to the outstanding form of Paul Aiton, with the Wildcats also having Matty Wildie in the hooking role who has impressed in recent outings.
Wildcats Chief Executive, James Elston, commented: “It makes sense for all parties that Kyle joins the Giants for the remainder of the season in light of his contract with them from next year.
“It allows us to give an opportunity to other members of our squad to step up for the rest of this campaign with a view to the future at the club and we’re confident that we have the talent in the squad to do that.
“We’d like to thank Kyle for his efforts at the club and wish him well at the Giants.”
