Wildcats centre Jimmy Keinhorst is eager to make up for lost time when the Wildcats face Hunslet Hawks on Sunday.
The Leeds Rhinos loanee has been out of action since dislocating his shoulder playing for the Rhinos in August and his rehabilitation from the resulting surgery has meant he’s yet to lace his boots in Wildcats colours, missing out on the friendly against Featherstone Rovers just days after joining.
Now back to full fitness, the German international was set to feature against Huddersfield Giants before the weather put pay to that match and he is keen to get out there against the club he featured for on dual registration in 2013, scoring 13 tries in 15 appearances.
“It would have been good to get a run out on Sunday after a few months out,” said Keinhorst.
“It’s been a while now so I’m quite eager to get back into it and Sunday can’t come quickly enough.
“I spent a good few games there last year and it helped me as a player and helped my development to get some regular game time. I think it put me in better stead for when I was called back to Leeds for those few games. I was thankful for that and the opportunity they gave me last year.
“There’s no better preparation than actually playing so it was a bit disappointing to miss out on Sunday, particularly for Andy Raleigh. We have to look to this Sunday, get a good hit-out, put some combinations together and get used to each other.”
You can listen to the full interview with Keinhorst on the Wildcats Audioboo account, including a special guest appearance from Danny Kirmond.
Admission to Sunday’s game at the South Leeds Stadium (kick-off: 3pm) is priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for under 16’s.
All proceeds from the half-time draw will be donated to Andy Raleigh’s testimonial fund.
