Wakefield loose-forward Danny Washbrook was disappointed with the team’s performance as they lost out 23-10 to Bradford Bulls.

Danny Washbrook admitted the Wildcats were well below par in defeat to Bradford.

Wildcats failed to build on the positives from their opening day loss at Salford as mistakes and poor discipline saw them lose out in the West Yorkshire derby.

Washbrook said: “We weren’t good enough in a lot of departments compared to last week. Although we lost (last week) we felt like we produced a lot of good stuff whereas today there wasn’t really much that went right.”

“I think we showed when we did play through them we got some success as it showed for Ali’s try in the second half.”

Wakefield had opportunities to get into the game after struggling for the first 20 minutes but could not dominate the game, Washbrook added: “We had a pretty decent spell with Pete’s try in the first half and same in the second half when we had another decent spell.

“We can’t have decent spells we need to be consistent all through the game.”

Having only had four days to prepare for last nights game, Trinity now have nine days before they travel to Wigan, Washbrook was not using the short turnaround as an excuse for last night though: “We won’t use the short turnaround as an excuse because Bradford had the same.

“We have just got to look at what went wrong and make sure we improve because if we make the same kind of errors we made today next week (against Wigan) then we will get embarrassed.”
