Award-winning Northern brewer, Thwaites, is taking a walk on the wild side after securing a licensing deal with Yorkshire rugby league outfit, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
The three year agreement will see the First Utility Super League club stock Thwaites’ classic Smooth ale – a 3.4% ABV brew, affectionately known as ‘the Northern Smoothie’ – along with iconic German larger, Kaltenberg.
Desmond Gallagher, Interims Brand Manager at Thwaites, said: “We’re thrilled to be crossing the Pennines, and establishing a presence in the heart of Yorkshire. Rugby League has never been more popular in the UK and with Wakefield Wildcats at the top of their game, we’re looking forward to be bringing our range of award-winning brews to a new audience of sporting fans.”
Thwaites’ famous brews will be served at locations around the Wildcats’ stadium, including hospitality suites, The 1873 Suite, The Legend’s Suite and Fox’s Bar, named after world record points scorer, Neil Fox.
Wildcat’s supporters are also set to get a taste of the Blackburn brewers which will be sold at fan hangout, Cat’s bar, as well as various locations throughout the stadium.
Wildcats Chairman, Michael Carter, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Thwaites to the club and thank them for their investment in the Wildcats. Having a pint at the game is part of the matchday experience for many of our supporters and we know that with Thwaites on board what we will be able to offer is a quality product that we’re sure our fans will enjoy.”
