Prop Richard Moore says the Wildcats players must convert good preparation into good performances after a disappointing Tetley’s Challenge Cup exit.
The Wildcats were never really in the game after a four try blitz from Leeds midway through the first half and the clinical Rhinos went on to rack up the points and put an end to Trinity’s dreams of a Wembley appearance for another year.
Moore started in his first game of the season after hamstring and calf injuries and says the squad must cut out basic errors to give themselves a chance in matches
“It was nice to get a run out but very disappointed,” was Moore’s assessment.
“You can’t afford to give Leeds that much ball. They’re a quality team and kicking out on the full and turning cheap ball over just killed us and they got a roll on.
“Once Leeds get that roll on they’re hard to control. It’s frustrating and being injured, I know how hard the boys are working. The stuff that Rich is giving us up to games is spot on and everyone’s looking forward to games and we feel confident going into them.
“When we’re turning the ball over cheaply like that, it zaps everybody’s enthusiasm. We need to cut little things out like that and we’ll be fine. Once we cut stupid errors out of our game, we’ll give anyone a shout. We’ve just got to give ourselves a chance in games.
“The good thing about rugby is we dust ourselves down again and look towards Friday. Hopefully we can have a good week of training, turn up on a Friday and give it a real shot.”
