Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ mascot, Daddy Cool, was joined by stars of the club, Nick Scruton and Matt Ryan, when he visited his sponsor, The Wetherby Whaler, for a tasty treat.

The much-loved mascot, Daddy Cool, tucked into fish and chips with two of Wakefield’s favourite sportsmen courtesy of The Wetherby Whaler in Wakefield, which has close ties to the club and has sponsored the mascot for the Wildcats’ 2014 season.

In addition to Wakefield, The Wetherby Whaler has restaurants and takeaways in Pudsey, Guiseley, Wetherby and York and has become one of the leading players in the Yorkshire fish and chip market.

Phillip Murphy, Owner of the Wetherby Whaler, said: “The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are the pride of the town and we were delighted to welcome them to our restaurant.

“It was fantastic to have the pair visit us with Daddy Cool, which was a real surprise to our customers who enjoyed getting autographs and photos taken with them.”

Phillip added: “We are delighted to have such close ties with the club and we would like to wish the team all the best for next season.”

Scruton added: “I would like to thank the Wetherby Whaler for supporting the team and for offering me and Matt the opportunity to visit the restaurant for lunch. The fish and chips were fantastic, and the other lads on the team were very jealous of our visit!”
