Lopini Paea expressed his frustration following the 50-28 defeat against Leeds Rhinos in the Tetley's Festive Challenge with a few positives to be taken away.
He said, "There were a lot of new lads, people in new positions and a new way of playing, when we did what we did in training it pays off, when we go away from playing it the score line ends up the way it does."
"We are definitely going to have to work harder in the defence, Leeds put 50 against us and that was not their full strength squad."
The tie was the first of three pre season games for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats, whilst Paea and the five other new signings all made their debuts.
Paea continued, "It was good to get a game, obviously being new at the club it was good to shake a few cobwebs off and learn timings with the boys and learn a new system, there were a lot of positives to take away from it."
"It wasn't too bad, luckily for me it was a slow game, I'm just happy to get it out of the way and just settle in with the combination of new players and learning the system, I was just doing my job. I think by the end of the Hull FC game we will be ready to go, we are heading in the right direction."
