Christmas came early for thousands of Rugby League fans at one of Europe's busiest destination shopping malls on Sunday with the unwrapping of a 'giant' present from the First Utility Super League clubs.

On a day which saw over 200,000 people pack the Trafford Centre on the outskirts of Manchester, Super League took the opportunity to promote the exciting new era the sport is entering in 2015.

With an estimated 5,000 people looking on, an enormous toy box was unwrapped to gasps and applause as fans caught sight of its contents- some of the stars of the First Utility season.

Inside the box stood 10 all-action figures in full playing kit, all of whom came alive when a special 'Activate' button was pressed by a young fan.

The players then emerged from the toy box to huge cheers as they signed autographs and posed for photographs with fans, many of whom were presented with souvenir #RLNewEra Super League Grand Final scarves.

Super League General Manager, Blake Solly said, "It was a fantastic event which really captured the imagination of thousands of people at the Trafford Centre on one of the busiest days of the year."

"The look on the faces of the younger fans as the players came alive inside the toy box was magical: we created a real buzz on the day and it's clear that lots of people are excited by what the new season has in store."

The 2015 First Utility Super League season kicks off over the weekend of February 5-8 and climaxes with the 2015 First Utility Super League Grand Final at the Theatre of Dreams, Old Trafford on Saturday October 10.
