With only three days to go until Magic Weekend gets underway in Newcastle, Danny Kirmond and Stu Dickens joined fellow Super League coaches and players at the press day at St James’ Park yesterday.

Captain Danny Kirmond expressed his excitement for the Magic Weekend to the press but stated that it is an important fixture for the club after a difficult season.

“I am really looking forward to the weekend, it is going to be good” said Kirmond.

“There are not a lot of sports where you can hold events like the Magic Weekend, where all the fans get together in one place.”

Interim coach Stu Dickens and his squad will be looking to get a much needed win on Sunday in Newcastle after a tough few weeks. They will be hoping to repeat the strong and passionate performance they installed over local rivals Castleford Tigers back in round 1.

“We need to put a big performance in against Castleford” Kirmond continued.

“We have been through a tough time, a lot of changes happened last week with James (Webster) leaving and Stu (Dickens) stepping up to lead us. He has come in and installed a lot of belief into us and is pushing us to put in that performance against Castleford.”
