Round 16 sees the return of Magic Weekend, this year the spectacle which is usually showcased at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, is being staged at St James’ Park, Newcastle.
Wakefield Wildcats face local rivals Castleford Tigers on the last game on Sunday, kick-off 5.30pm in what is expected to be an action packed Yorkshire derby. It is, however, an important fixture for the Wildcats, as Stu Dickens and his side will be looking for their first win in the league since the 2nd round.
Mickael Simon makes a return to the side after missing out last week through suspension. Dan Smith has also been named in the 19-man squad after being on the sidelines through injury. Captain, Danny Kirmond is set to make his 100th appearance for his hometown club Wakefield Wildcats on Sunday.
Castleford Tigers head coach, Daryl Powell has welcomed back Scott Moore into his 19-man squad, the hooker has missed a few weeks through injury. Moore will also be joined with Junior Moors and Will Maher who both make a return to the side.
In the previous meeting between both sides this season, Wakefield Wildcats fought back in a nail biting local derby with a 24-22 victory at Mend-A-Hose Jungle in round 1. They will be looking to do the double over Castleford.
Stu Dickens will also be hoping that it will not be a repeat of last year’s performance at Magic Weekend when Castleford managed to put 50 points past the Wildcats at the Etihad Stadium.
