RILEY AIMING TO RELIVE LADBROKES CHALLENGE CUP DREAM

posted on 12 May 2015

Wakefield Trinity winger Chris Riley hopes his experience in Rugby League’s most historic competition will make a winning difference when the Wildcats host Leigh Centurions in a Ladbrokes Challenge Cup sixth round tie at Belle Vue on Sunday (2.15pm).

Riley, who joined the Yorkshire club last year, has won the Cup three times with Warrington Wolves and believes his experience could be important if they are to progress to the next round.

“On a personal level, I’ve been there and done it, so I know what it’s all about to win the Challenge Cup on the biggest stage,” he said.

“Being a Warrington lad made it even more special as well; even better to score. We know all about Leigh and what they will throw at us. They’re a good side so we know it’s not going to be an easy game.”

Riley is Wakefield’s top try-scorer with seven so far in 2015, and whilst his side haven’t picked up two Super League points since Round 2, the 27-year-old knows that form goes out of the window when it comes to Cup competitions.

“The season’s been tough for us recently, especially after how well we started,” he said.

“The Cup’s different to the league, form doesn’t really matter given that it’s a one off game in a do-or-die situation.

“Home advantage is huge for us too. It’s a traditional ground where the fans are on top of the pitch which Leigh won’t be used to. Hopefully we’ll play well enough to get in the draw for the next round.”

Tickets for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup sixth round tie, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats v Leigh Centurions at Belle Vue on Sunday May 17 (2.15pm) cost from £17 for adults, £12 for concessions and just £1 for juniors.

Tickets for the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 29 costs from just £20 and can be purchased by visiting www.rugbyleaguetickets.co.uk or calling the Rugby League Ticket Hotline on 0844 856 1113.
