Danny Kirmond spent the evening coaching the Normanton Knights under 14s last week.

Danny gave the boys a taster of what the Wildcats first team get up to in training, including conditioning and game-based exercises. He ended the session with a question and answer session, telling the lads to ignore girls and alcohol and instead to 'carry on working hard even if they think they've made it'. He also claimed that fellow Normanton gradate Ben Westwood was the toughest opponent he has faced, with Brett Hodgson the best team mate of his, whilst also admitting to being jealous that fellow Wildcat Danny Washbrook bench presses significantly more than him!

Normanton Knights coach Dan Robinson said that 'Danny represented Wakefield Wildcats in the best possible fashion. His session was an excellent combination of informative and enjoyable, and provided the players with a unique insight into what Super League players get up to on a daily basis.

The fourteen-year-old players left the training field feeling focused and motivated to continue with their own development, and we cannot thank Danny enough for this. Danny is welcome back at Normanton any time, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Wakefield Wildcats.'

Everyone involved with Normanton Knights U14s would like to say a huge thank you to Danny for giving up his time to run this session, Brian Smith for kindly allowing Kirmond to do this, as well as Verity and Ryan for their assistance in organising the event. We look forward to future events involving our two clubs.

For anyone interested in joining Normanton Knights Under 14s (players about to enter school year ten) please contact coach Dan Robinson (details below). They train Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with matches played on a Sunday morning. Players of all ability and experience are welcome!
