WAKEFIELD V WIDNES MATCH PREVIEW!

posted on 11 September 2015

Round 5 of the Super 8s Qualifiers sees Wakefield Wildcats host Widnes Vikings at Belle Vue on Saturday 12th September. Kick-off 6pm.

The Wildcats are eager to respond from last weekend's 20-18 defeat away at Hull Kingston Rovers, but face a tough task against an in-form Widnes side, who are on the back of a 56-16 win over Bradford.

Brian Smith brings Michael Sio back into the squad following a one match suspension. He is joined by Chris Riley, who missed out on selection at Craven Park. The duo replace Anthony Walker and Andy Yates in Smith's 19-man squad.

The Vikings have the upper hand on Trinity this season, winning both fixtures during the Super League campaign. However, Wakefield have the better record over recent years, having beat Widnes six times from eight attempts.

The 19-man squads are named below:

WILDCATS: Anderson, Annakin, Ashurst, Arundel, Godinet, Lauitiiti, Lyne, Locke, Miller, Mullally, Riley, Scruton, Simon, Sio, L. Smith, T. Smith, Tansey, Tupou, Washbrook.

VIKINGS: Ah Van, Brown, Cahill, Clarkson, Craven, Dean, Dudson, Flynn, Galea, Gerrard, Hanbury, Heremaia, Manuokafoa, Mellor, O'Carroll, Runciman, Tickle, White, Whitley.
