DACIA BECOME PRINCIPLE PARTNER OF MAGIC WEEKEND

posted on 5 March 2016

Following on from the successful partnership of the World Club Series, Dacia, the UK’s top value car brand, has today been confirmed as the principle partner of First Utility Super League’s Magic Weekend.

This announcement of the three-year-deal highlights Dacia’s growing involvement in Rugby League, with the car brand announcing their support for the First Utility Super League and the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup earlier this year.

Magic Weekend, one of Super League’s showpiece events, returns to St James’ Park in Newcastle for a second year (May 21-22) after a record-breaking 2015 that saw more than 67,000 fans witness all 12 First Utility Super League clubs in action in one the UK’s iconic stadiums.

Dacia has enjoyed the most successful launch of any new car brand in the UK and has sold over 60,000 vehicles since launching in the UK in 2013. Its models have picked up numerous prestigious awards, including What Car?’s ‘Best Small Car under £12,000’ for four consecutive years for the Sandero hatchback.

RFL Commercial Director, Chris Rawlings said: “Dacia’s early engagement with the Rugby League community has been really positive. Last year’s event was fantastic and we’re looking forward to working with them to add to the success of this and bring more fans to the Dacia Magic Weekend. Their long-term commitment to the game is helping to support the future of the sport.”

Dacia Communications Manager, Ed Preston said: “This is another exciting launch for Dacia in Rugby League. We’re thrilled to have this opportunity to engage the sport’s community and show that our brand is made of the same stuff of this great game. The Dacia World Club Series was such a highlight for us and we are sure the Dacia Magic Weekend will be another highlight of the season for fans from every Super League club.”
