WILDCATS V SALFORD MATCH PREVIEW

posted on 1 April 2016

Wakefield Wildcats return to home turf to face Salford Red Devils on Saturday, kick off at 2:50pm.

Chris Chester’s side are looking for three wins in a row after Easter wins at home to the Giants and away at Headingley against the reigning champions, Leeds Rhinos.

Chester has made two changes to the winning 19 from Easter Monday: Anthony England returns to the squad having been forced to sit out the trip to Leeds. Joining England in the squad is former Aussie international Anthony Tupou who has been missing for the last two games.

The Wildcats opponents are also coming off the back of a good win in West Yorkshire against Huddersfield despite it being marred by ugly scenes at the end of the game. Salford are two spots and two points in front of Trinity on the Super League table.

Ian Watson has named his 19-man squad for the trip to Belle Vue: The Red Devils’ Captain Tommy Lee and winger Greg Johnson are sidelined after picking up knee injuries in their Good Friday defeat to Catalans Dragons.

Mason Caton-Brown has been ruled out after being involved in a canon-ball tackle at the John Smith’s Stadium. Phil Joseph also drops out of the squad.

In come Ryan Lannon, who is making his first appearance since the defeat at Hull KR. Also, Jordan Walne returns, having not played since the agonising home defeat to Warrington.

The last time these two sides met at Belle Vue was in round 18 of the 2015 Super League season where the Red Devils came out on top 24-16 despite tries from Daniel Smith, Ian Kirke and Danny Kirmond.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats 19-Man Squad: Tinirau Arona, Joe Arundel, Matty Ashurst, Anthony England, Liam Finn, Craig Hall, Tom Johnstone, Ben Jones-Bishop, Max Jowitt, Danny Kirmond, Reece Lyne, Jacob Miller, Jonny Molloy, Scott Moore, Nick Scruton, Mika Simon, Mikey Sio, Anthony Tupou, Jay Walton
