Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are delighted to announce that club captain Danny Kirmond has signed a contract extension with the club.
Kirmond, 30, has been an integral part of the club both on and off the field since joining permanently from Huddersfield Giants in 2012, and has now signed a new two year deal which will keep him in the red, white and blue until the end of 2018.
Having made over 100 Super League appearances for the club, including during a loan spell in 2010, the back-rower expressed his delight at securing his future for the next two seasons.
“I'm delighted to have signed a contract extension for the next two years at the club,” he said.
“Having been here for six years now, the club, the fans and the rest of the boys mean a lot to me and having seen some low times during my time here I genuinely feel the club is in the best position it’s been in during my stay.
“It's been great since Chris (Chester) came in and hopefully we can continue to work hard together to move forward. I look forward to the rest of this season and hopefully finishing my career off as a Wildcat."
Chris Chester said, "I am delighted we have signed up our Captain for another two years, his performances have been outstanding in recent weeks and he will play a vital role over the next two years."
Chairman, Michael Carter is delighted with the signing saying, “It is great news that Danny has signed for another two years, Danny loves this club and he was extremely loyal in 2013 when we went through all of our troubles, he could have moved elsewhere within the Super League and he didn’t so I am really pleased for Danny and the club, it is another great step towards a stable squad for next year.”
