Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are thrilled to announce a new deal for Tom Johnstone.

Johnstone, 20, who came through the Academy ranks at the club, has committed his future with the Wildcats after signing a new four and a half year deal which will see him in the red, white and blue until 2020.

The former Stanningley junior made his way through the academy system at the Wildcats before signing his first professional contract in 2014, he later went on to sign a three-year contract to see him at the Wildcats until 2018. The 20-year old has had another exceptional season featuring in 21 games and scoring 16 tries.

Johnstone has expressed his delight on the deal saying, “I am very happy to be staying at the club for another four years. They are a great set of lads to play with and we have got awesome fans who follow us in numbers week in week out. I am really looking forward to the next few years, especially working with Chezzy (Chris Chester).”

Chairman, Michael Carter said, “I am delighted to have agreed a new deal with Tom that keeps him at the club for the next four seasons.

“It is vitally important as a club that we manage to retain our academy products. Tom has had a fantastic year, is still learning and hopefully will become a much better player over the next four years.”

The signing of Johnstone is a testament to our Club 1873 scheme and you can support it which will help develop more players like Tom, Jordan Crowther, Max Jowitt and James Batchelor for just £1 a week.
