Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will once again make the trip across the M62 to the DW Stadium this evening to face Wigan Warriors, kick-off 8pm in the opening weekend of the Super 8s campaign.
Previous fixtures between both sides this season have both been entertaining; with the Wildcats achieving their best result with a 62-0 victory of the Warriors at Belle Vue Stadium back in April. However, Wigan delayed Trinity’s chances of securing the top eight spot after a try in the final seconds of the game at the DW Stadium saw them clinch the two points.
The Wildcats go into the game on the back of a heavy defeat after missing out on the opportunity to make it to Wembley in the Challenge Cup. Chris Chester has been forced to make three changes to his side this evening with three more players being added to the every growing injury list.
Youngster’s Liam Senior, Judah Mazive and Frazer Morris have been named in the 19-man squad which could see Morris and Mazive make their Super League debut. They will replace the injured Scott Anderson, Ben Jones-Bishop and Captain, Danny Kirmond.
Wigan also missed out on the chance to make the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Final last weekend after losing to Hull FC on Friday night. Their Head Coach, Shaun Wane has made two changes to his side with Josh Charnley and Frank-Paul Nuuausala return from suspension and they will replace youngsters, Joe Bretherton and Kyle Shelford.
