The Wakefield Trinity Youth Academy are already back in training for the coming year and they spent their first day undergoing a series of rigorous physical tests at York St John Universities Sports Science and Athletics Centre.

The Scholarship U16s group were put through their paces by Academy Head of Strength & Conditioning Andreas Liefeith who is also a Senior Lecturer at the University.

The boys started the day in the lecture theatre where they undertook a series of seminars designed to inform both them and their parents about the year ahead and to get the players ready for what promises to be a brutal but enjoyable Scholarship programme.

The Squad then headed to the University Sports Campus where they were subjected to a number of tests designed to Benchmark their athletic ability.

Head of Youth Development and Performance, Richard Kelly said "The opportunity to come here to York St John University and perform these tests in a quality Sports Science facility is a huge boost to our athlete preparations.

The squad will be repeating the exercise twice more during the year while the U19s Senior Academy will also do the same when they resume training in November".
