Club statement concerning Demetriou Testimonial goods
The Wildcats would like to clarify speculation relating to Jason Demetriou testimonial items no longer being on sale through the club shop.The club were delighted that JD was awared a testimonial by the Rugby Football League following their request for their captain to be granted a reward for his services to the game. The Rugby Football League supported this request and JD was granted a three- month testimonial which started on 29th May 2010 and expired 29th August 2010. Strict rules apply to running a testimonial regarding income and tax free matters and one of these rules is that the timescales are to be strictly adhered to; any activity of sales outside the testimonial timescales can bring the testimonial into investigation under the rules in place.
Therefore all items have had to be removed from sale to prevent any problems for JD and his Testimonial Committee if items remained on sale after the end of his testimonial.
