TRUST WIN COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE AWARD
The Wildcats Community Trust have once again been recognised for their oustanding contribution to the local area after winning the Community Enterprise Award at the Wakefield Express Business Award’s last week.
The Trust were presented with their award at the evening held at Cedar Court in Wakefield, beating competition from other nominee’s to take the gong.
A panel pointed to the ‘volume and variance’ of the work that the Trust do within the District for choosing them over the other nominee’s, making it a second award of 2012 following on from a Special Recognition Award from Heart Research UK earlier this year.
The Wildcats Community Trust have worked with over 60,000 children in the past 12 months, offer provisions for those over 16 and are recognised in the sport as one of the finest setups of its kind in the country.
The Trust’s watch words are ‘Engage, Inspire and Achieve’, using the Wildcats first team players as role models and have many exciting projects coming up including an Artist in Residency, the first project of its kind at this level in rugby league.
“It’s fantastic for the Trust team to be recognised at the Wakefield Business Awards and we’re delighted to be given this honour ahead of other organisations who do fantastic work in the community,” said Wildcats Director of Education, Mark Winder, who was also nominated for the Employee of the Year Award.
“All of the Trust team put the hard work in to ensure what they deliver to people in the District is exceptional and whilst the most satisfying part of the job for us all is seeing how people are empowered to achieve, an award like this is fantastic recognition for the Team and their efforts.”
Wildcats Chief Executive, James Elston, congratulated the Trust on their achievement.
“As a club we’re incredibly proud of the work the Trust do in making a difference within the community and this award is fully deserved for all the time, effort and pride they put into their work every single day.
“The club is making improvements off the field in many areas and the Trust is an example of one of those areas that keeps getting better, and has done for a number of years.”
It was also a good evening for Wildcats Recruitment Partners, m2r Ltd. who won the International Business of the Year Award.
