Richard Agar

Head Coach

Agar was appointed as Head Coach of the Wildcats last August coming from Hull FC on a three year deal, taking over from John Kear. The close season has been a busy one for Agar bringing in several new players to build a squad to compete in Super League.
He began his coaching career at York City Knights before moving to the black and whites to become Assistant Coach, a position he held for four years. Midway through 2008 he became the Airlie Birds Head Coach, leading them out in a Challenge Cup final that very year whilst achieving back-to-back play-off spots in the past two years.
A former player who appeared for Featherstone, Dewsbury and Widnes, Agar oversaw the development of the likes of Tom Briscoe and Danny Houghton at the KC Stadium and will hope to nurture some of the excellent young talent on the books at the Wildcats.
