Vince Mellars was the first man to sign up for the 2012 season at the Wildcats after the 2011 license announcement having spent two years in North Wales with Crusaders where he was top try scorer in 2010.
Mellars came through the ranks at New Zealand Warriors where he made his NRL debut before short spells at Cronulla and Sydney Roosters. 2008 then saw him switch codes to play for Canterbury Crusaders before returning to the 13-man code after a single season.
The 28-year-old centre then moved to the Super League from the 2010 season where he scored an impressive 11 tries in his first season. There is tough competition in the three-quarter line at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium and Mellars has proved to be a valuable asset with his versatility by also filling in the back-row.
His stand-out moment in the red, white and blue so far, came at the Magic Weekend where he scored a wonderful solo try to out pace the Castleford defence.
