Wildcats Learning Zone

Playing for Success was launched in 1997 as a partnership between the FA Premier League and the Government. Plans were announced to open out-of- school hours Study Support Centres at football club grounds. The original three clubs involved have now grown to over 100 officially opened centres involving other sports such as Rugby League, Rugby Union, Cricket, Hockey, Ice Skating and Tennis.
The Centres focus on raising standards in literacy, numeracy and ICT skills mainly for students in the 9 – 14 age range who have been identified by their school for. The pupils chosen are those which it is felt would most benefit from the opportunity. The Wildcats Learning Zone will work closely with Wakefield Metropolitan District Council, Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Community department to deliver Playing for Success, an out-of Hours Study Support Programme that delivers the ‘PfS’ programme to pupils from Wakefield District. By harnessing the brand names of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats alongside the vision and support of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council the centre aims to:
- Raise aspirations
- Develop self-esteem
- Raise confidence levels
- Foster independent learning
- Provide a positive educational experience
