Loose-forward Danny Washbrook has agreed a new one-year contract to remain at the Wildcats in 2015.

Danny Washbrook will be a Wildcat again in 2015.
It will be Washbrook’s fourth season at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium having signed from hometown club Hull FC in 2012 and during his three years at the Wildcats he has totalled 75 Super League appearances, missing just three matches.
The 28-year old has been a mainstay of the Trinity team during his three seasons at the club, topping the Trinity tackle count once again in 2014 having picked up the Super League ‘Hitman’ title in 2012 when he made 990 tackles, more than any other player in the competition.
Regularly completing 80 minutes in the Wildcats engine room, Washbrook has been a dependable performer and is looking forward to another season with the club in 2015.
“I’ve really enjoyed it here. If you speak to any of the boys that are here or those that have left, they’ll say it’s the best group of lads they’ve played with throughout their career and I’d have to agree with that,” said Washbrook, who made his 200th career appearance in the win over Hull FC at the KC Stadium in May 2014.
“When the opportunity came up in 2011 to come to Wakefield, I saw it as an opportunity to stamp down a regular place and I’ve managed to do that and enjoy it here.”
Washbrook has seen players come and go during hia three years at the club and believes having a settled squad ahead of the 2015 campaign will reap its rewards and he is determined to repay the faith show in the team by the Trinity supporters.
“I don’t think we’ve had a proper pre-season while I’ve been here. They’ve been a bit interrupted so Webbo will be looking to get everyone here and starting at the same time so people know their roles. When it comes to the friendly’s and the start of the season we’re not peaking, but we’re ready to go.
“They turn up and they’re always loud and proud. It’s up to us to repay their faith. There’s been times when they probably could have stayed at home and not come to watch but they’ve still turned up and I think it’s time for us to really show them what they mean to us.”
“The players and the staff are really happy that Washy has agreed a new deal,” said Webster.
“He plays 80 minutes in the middle and it’s important to have players like that in your squad, particularly as we’ll be running with quite a small squad next year.”
Washbrook follows the Scott Anderson, Daniel Smith, Reece Lyne and Nick Scruton in penning new deals, with Craig Hall, Mickael Simon and Matty Ashurst all set to join up with the squad in 2015.
You can sign up for 2015 when season tickets go on sale on September 1st and with the option to pay over six monthly installments, it’s the best possible way to show your support for the club. For more details click HERE.
