Under the Captaincy of Edward Jennings, the Super League Club ìWakefield Trinity Wildcatsî are entering a team in the 2009 Four Peaks Challenge.
The final team selection will depend on the 2009 Super League fixtures but is set to include Davide Longo, Richard Cattley and Ed Curran.
Sally Pettipher, Spoon’s Programme Director stated “This is a first for the Wooden Spoon 4 Peaks event and a great example of the support for Spoon’s work with children within both codes of rugby. This support from Rugby League is a real win for us, we are the first national charity to truly represent all factions of rugby - and I know that League supporters will get as involved fundraising for Spoon as Union fans have in the past!í
4 Peaks team captain, Edward Jennings declared “This is my 10th year of participation in the challenge and possibly my last and I cannot think of any better way of signing off than with such a high profile team. Whilst my previous team mates have raised over £85,000 for the Wooden Spoon event, they would all agree that competing in this event is one of the most rewarding and fun experiences imaginable. I would like to thank James Elston (Marketing/Community Director) at the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats for his help and assistance, and we look forward to seeing how much money we can raise in 2009!í
The Four Peaks Challenge is from 2nd to 4th July 2009 and includes a gruelling climb of four of the highest mountains in Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland, a total of 14,000 feet, plus an epic drive of 1,900 miles, all within 48 hours. For more information go to www.spoonchallenges.com
