For the last four weeks Wakefield Wildcats Community Department have been delivering their Street Dance and Rugby programme to Years four, five and six pupils at Rothwell St Marys Roman Catholic Primary School.

Now the pupils will be performing the routines that they have learned at a festival when the audience will include their parents, families and teachers.

The Community Department’s Dance Development Officer Jodie Travis said: “We had a great time working with the pupils and staff at Rothwell St Marys and the children seemed to enjoy the project.”

Helen Hallos, one of the teachers at St Marys, said: “Street Dance how cool is that? The children loved it – it was both exercise and fun – brilliant!

“The children had a fantastic time, the routines were fun and energetic and there was an opportunity for self expression.

“Everyone joined in with whole classes working together as a team.”

Also participating in the programme were: Oulton Primary School, Rothwell Primary School, Rothwell Church of England Primary School, Rothwell Primary School and Woodlesford Primary School.
